Make a Day of It Looking to try something different? You can track or skate ski, or snowshoe on nearly 40 kilometers of carefully groomed, scenic trails with state-of-the-art equipment. The new expanded Cross-Country, Telemark + Snowshoe Center features a sundeck and expanded teaching area.  And if the scenery doesn’t make you stop and take it all in, maybe the warming huts, complete with hot chocolate and hot tea, and picnic tables along the way will. Trail Report See what trails were groomed overnight and find the perfect scenic spots. Take a few pictures of your adventure and upload your photos  to the Interactive Trail Map.	Trail Passes    Cross-country + Snowshoe trail fees provide access to machine-packed trail system (for cross-country skiing & snowshoeing) plus use of the Big Springs Express Gondola and the Village Express Quad Chairlift.
Rentals Daily rental adult and child fees for cross-country, telemark and snowshoe equipment. Enjoy gliding on brand-new cross-country ski equipment for the 2008.09 season!	Lessons + Camps Perfect your techniques!  Lesson only or lesson packages that include rental equipment, trail fees available.

Location

 The relocated and expanded 1,400 square foot Cross-Country, Telemark + Snowshoe Center is easily accessible from the top of the Gondola. From the top of the Gondola, walk left towards Vista Express chair lift. Pass Vista Express loading area, walk up a short steep hill for approximately 30 yards to reach the Cross Country, Telemark and Snowshoe Center. 

 

Geocaching

Geocaching has been described as a “high tech treasure hunt”. It is the activity of using a GPS (global positioning system) handheld device to locate more than 430,000 caches or treasure boxes, hidden in nearly every country around the world, from city streets to ski slopes. These caches contain treasure, usually toys or other little trinkets.

Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort’s caches (rustic ammo cans) contain a log book and trinkets that are redeemable for great prizes including a $5 certificate at Starbucks or The North Face for easy finds, to dinner at one of the restaurant, or lift tickets for two for the “black diamond” rating.

 

Trail Passes

Trail Passes  must be purchased at the Ticketing & Season Pass Office before loading the Gondola.  Equipment rental, trail pass packages and lessons can be purchased at the new Cross-Country Ski & Snowshoe Center.  If you have your own equipment and a trail pass, you can take the Village Express Quad directly to the Sawmill Flat Trail System.
